The Pleasanton Police Department's Intention is to partner with the community members that have been diagnosed with cognitive disorders, and the caretakers responsible for their safety and well-being, to assist during emergencies and times of crisis. The goal is to work together to protect your loved ones.
Discovering you or a family member has been diagnosed with a cognitive disorder can cause immense stress. The Pleasanton Police Department hopes to alleviate some of that stress by implementing Project H.E.L.P. Our intention is to partner with the community members and their caretakers to assist during emergency situations. When a community member is enrolled in Project H.E.L.P. and is reported missing, in danger or in need of medical assistance, this valuable information will be used to provide an elevated level of understanding and care.
Those in our community with a cognitive disorders are encouraged to fill out the Project H.E.L.P. application online, with the help of a caretaker if necessary. In the event, that community members are unable to to print the application at home, they are encouraged to come the Pleasanton Police Department to pick up an application from the Police Department's Communication Center. When the application is completed, it should be returned to the Pleasanton Police Communication Center. A current photograph of the applicant, including photograph(s) of any scars, distinguishing marks and/or tattoos must be provided. If the community member is unable to provide photograph(s), the Pleasanton Police Department personnel can assist by taking digital photographs when the application is submitted. A signed and notarized release form is required and will be provided when the application is returned. Please check with the Pleasanton Police Communication personnel before your arrival to ensure there is a notary on duty to assist you. Pleasanton Police Department provides complimentary notary services for this program. Project H.E.L.P. applications can be completed here or at firstname.lastname@example.org.
In the event, that the community member was last seen outside the City limits, Pleasanton Police Department can share relevant information, including the photograph(s), with the law enforcement entity in that jurisdiction for the lawful purpose of protecting our community member(s).
