The museum through its displays of artifacts, documents, portraits, and written excerpts portraying the history of Atascosa county. The museum devotes major efforts in documenting the area as the "Birthplace of the Cowboy".
 
Our Museum also serves as a Tourist Information Center. This center assist visitors by providing maps, brochures, and information about Pleasanton and Atascosa County.
 
"It is a well known fact that Pleasanton and this Museum are on land once owned by the Rancho of San Jose Mission"

Train Depot7
The( SAU&G) San Antonio, Uvalde and Gulf Depot was located on HWY 281 in North Pleasanton and was moved to the grounds of the Longhorn museum. The Union Pacific Caboose (pictured above) was added to this exhibit. Also the Depot contains artifacts and excerpts from the early days of Railroading
